Several wineries in the Douro Valley offer romantic, authentic or luxury accommodations.
The luxury manor house of Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo gives a feel of a large Portuguese family home with several classic design rooms and interesting restored authentic furniture. Today, Quinta Nova is part of the Relais & Châteaux network.
The estate is located near the Ferrão train station. You can also arrive by car, boat or a helicopter.

Probably one of the most eccentric stays in the Douro Valley. Quinta da Pacheca offers accommodation in one of the 10 giant barrels and the modern wine house hotel. The quinta also houses a vineyard spa and a restaurant.
There are plenty of wine tasting options at Quinta da Pacheca and even the grape stomping experience which my guests love.
Quinta de La Rosa offers an opportunity to stay at beautifully decorated rooms amongst a working vineyard on the banks of the Douro River.
This is a small family-owned estate producing high-quality wines, ports, and olive oil. A restaurant with amazing views Cozinha da Clara is onsite as well as an informal Tim’s Terrace.
Quinta de la Rosa is in the walking distance to the town of Pinhão, which makes it an excellent choice for those who arrive to the Douro Valley by train.
Located near Sabrosa, Quinta do Portal is a family winemaking company producing Douro wines, premium Port wines, fortified Moscatel wines, olive oil, and craft beer.

Quinta de Tourais is one of the oldest wineries of the region. It used to be a farm of the monastery at Salzedas.
Today, Quinta de Tourais is a family project by Fernando, the winemaker, Manuela and Liliana. Stay at a family winery surrounded by vineyards.
Guests enjoy access to a pool, large sun terrace and communal kitchen.
Quinta do Vallado is a winery and a wine hotel near Peso da Régua.
Initially, there was a traditional house built in the 18th century. It offers five recently renovated suites.
In 2012, a new building was added. Made almost entirely of schist, this 8-room hotel was designed by Architect Francisco Vieira de Campos.

Quinta do Pego
Quinta do Pego is a modern 4-star country hotel surrounded by vineyards. The Swiss-owned estate has 10 furnished bedrooms.

One of my favourite parts of staying at Quinta do Pego is their excellent breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Douro River.

There is no working winery at the Quinta, but you can walk in the vineyards and have a tasting a tasting at the wine shop of the quinta.
