About

Located on the steep bank of the Távora River, Panascal is one of the most highly reputed vineyards in the Douro Valley.

Since its acquisition by Fonseca company in 1978 the estate has been the object of major investment intended to ensure that the estate produces outstanding wines which today form the backbone of the Fonseca Vintage Port blend.

This is one of the first properties in the valley to contain areas of vineyard with organic certification.

Visit Quinta do Panascal to taste traditional port wine and see how it is made.

Quinta do Panascal offers an educational audio-tour which allows guests to wander independently through vineyards located atop rolling hills overlooking Távora River, and through the “lagares”, traditional treading tanks.

Available in Portuguese, English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Danish, and Japanese.

Quinta do Panascal tasting room also offers a variety of ports by the glass including old Tawnies and the first fully certified organic port.

During the grape-harvesting season, visitors can enjoy the unique experience of watching grape treading in the “lagares”, where Fonseca Port wine is still produced in the traditional way.
