About

Javier, the young owner, is the fifth generation wine-maker. He produces his wines using grapes from his family’s vineyards in Laguardia.

In 2013, Javier started his own project Bodegas Javier San Pedro Ortega where he now produces different ranges of wine. Cueva de Lobos are modern and aromatic, while Viuda Negra coming from old vineyards, and Anahí, a semi-sweet white wine.

Today, this is an innovative winery with a young team working on authentic but innovative wines.

The experience at Bodegas Javier San Pedro Ortega is incomparable to any other in Rioja.

The nature of the place is utterly unique. You are surrounded by vineyards in front of the the Sierra de Cantabria Mountains and looking at the most impressive architectural wonder in Rioja, Bodegas Ysios.

The experience Javier’s bodega is warm and innovative. Here you can taste a range of modern Rioja wines in a cozy environment while enjoying spectacular views.

Besides guided tours and tasting, the winery offers a tasting option of all the vintages served by the glass with delicious selection of “tapas” in their wine bar.

If you are a group of 8 plus people, the winery can organize lunch under the walnut tree or in the barrel room, with prior appointment.

Reservations recommended for visits and tastings, however, you can drop in for the wine bar.
