There are several ways to get from Barcelona to the Rioja region including by car, train, or bus.
If you choose public transportation options you will need to search for Logroño, which is the capital of the province of La Rioja, as your destination.
Once at Logroño, you can either rely on taxis, private drivers, to take you around the wine country or join, on the wine tours.

Train from Barcelona to Rioja
The Renfe Alvia trains leave Barcelona Sants at 8:45 am and reach Logroño in approximately 4 hours and 7 minutes.
You can book your train tickets at Rail Europe or Renfe websites, or visit a ticket office or use a ticket machine at a railway station.
Tickets run for approximately 30 euros one way.
2. Bus from Barcelona to Rioja
Several bus companies operate services between Barcelona and La Rioja. The journey takes around 6-7 hours.
The Alsa bus runs from Barcelona Estación Nord to Logrono 3 times per day.
Tickets run for approximately 20 to 40 euros one way.
3. Car from Barcelona to Rioja
You can rent a car in Barcelona or Barcelona airport or use a private transfer.
The drive from Barcelona to Logroño takes approximately 4.5 hours. The fastest route is via Zaragoza on AP-2/AP-68.
Most destinations in the Rioja wine country are within 30 minutes or less from Logroño.
