Come for a day tour to Priorat and visit bodega Clos Figueras. You will learn about the Priorat wines, how they are made, and taste our 4 wines.
Available Monday to Sunday by appointment.
About
Today three red wines and one white wine are produced at this Priorat bodega: Clos Figueres made from old vines, Font de la Figuera Tinto from vines planted back in 1998, and the recently launched Serras del Priorat, a more fruit-driven wine for early consumption while maintaining all the classic Priorat characteristics. Finally, Font de la Figuera Blanco from the “mistaken” Viognier.
Clos Figueras also produces an exceptional extra virgin olive oil from 135 olive trees of the celebrated Arbequina variety. Many of the trees are more than 300 years old.
The vineyard has always been farmed with ecology in mind and in 2015 we obtain the official certificate from CCPAE.
I can't comment on the rooms because we only went for a tasting. Jess, the woman who does the tours, works with great passion and enthusiasm, clearly enjoying her work. It's a blessing to have someone like her. The wines are spectacular, and the menu we were served was also excellent. It's a highly recommended place to discover or continue exploring the jewel that Priorat holds: its wines. We will definitely return.
Very poor management if you stay there (the wine tasting must be another story...I hope). There's never anyone around, there's no proper reception, and breakfast is chaotic; they leave a woman in charge who's completely overwhelmed. It's a shame that such a beautiful space is so badly managed. The restaurant isn't really a restaurant; it's a basic menu, and if you order the wine pairing, you'll mostly eat potatoes and some low-quality pâtés. They don't even change the glasses for the pairing, and the wines are so good they shouldn't be mixed.
I think I was just unlucky; maybe I just got stuck with all sorts of problems. I booked well in advance because it was a birthday present, and I requested the best room, which I don't think is what I got. The TV was falling apart, the bathroom door wouldn't close, the sheets were in tatters, the shower drained poorly and water leaked out of the bathroom, and the bathroom cabinet was rather dilapidated. I don't know...a place where the wines cost €65 should pay attention to certain details. The winery tour didn't offer me anything, even though I was warned that the person running it was just starting out. Jessica is the saving grace. She's full of energy and willingness. She manages everything.
In short, the place is very beautiful, but the tastings are geared towards tourists who then drink Coca-Cola with their meals, and there's little care put into running the business. There's no reception, you don't know where to leave your key... I was very disappointed. I went with high expectations, and this morning I only had a coffee with milk, and when the menu changed, it was even worse. Maybe I made a mistake. Even so, the place is spectacular.
