During an hour spent together, we have the pleasure of sharing with you the history of a family-owned vineyard, which began 160 years ago, its unique terroir and the art of making great wine.

Throughout a guided tour including the discovery of the museum collections, presenting more than 300 pieces of art and archaeology on the theme of wine, the old wooden vat room, the visit of the aging cellar, the terrace with a panoramic view and the tasting of our three wines, we hope to convert you into true ambassadors of our estate.

About

The story of the property goes back to 1428 when Gilhem de Siran took the feudal oath at the local church of Macau.

At the time of the French Revolution, Chateau Siran was in the possession of François Augustin du Boscq. The property was brought as a dowry to the Count of Toulouse-Lautrec Monfa, great-grandparents of the famous painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

It was the Toulouse-Lautrec family who had declined the invitation to the 1855 “Bonapartist classification” of the Medoc wineries.

Since 1859, when the property was acquired from Countess of Toulouse-Lautrec by Léo Barbier, it remained in the hands of his descendants.

Today, managed by the sixth generation, Édouard Miailhe, the estate produces wines in the Margaux, Haut-Medoc and the Bordeaux Superieur appellation.

38 hectares are planted with vines. The rest of the estate, composed of woods and meadows, contributes to the biodiversity promoted by the owners.

We where a group of 16 people that had the tour and subsequent lunch. Tour was too mechanical and without passion, and for some too fast to follow. Information was fine, but with a heavier focus the family/ estate than on the wines. It's a beautiful estate that you really should see. Lunch was impeccable on the rooftop and if you have the opportunity, please do that too (might require a large group). Wines in tasting was great, really illustrated the depth of their portfolio.

We booked a tasting via Rue des Vignerons. The reception was great (Margot – you do a good job with that). During the tasting, we wanted to sample one specific wine (the 'S'), but it wasn't included. We asked if this could still be arranged, instead of tasting the standard set of 3. Margot did her best, but soon a young lady (+/- 28 years old, dark medium-length curly hair) emerged from the office. In a very unprofessional manner, with a very customer-unfriendly tone of voice and without respect, she immediately made it clear to us that this was absolutely unacceptable! We were treated extremely rudely. Asking questions was out of the question. Her colleague Margot also felt very uncomfortable with all of this. After listening to the tirade for 2 minutes, we cut the tasting short. I seriously considered NOT paying, but a little voice inside me told me that Margot might end up with another problem on her hands. SHE could do absolutely nothing about it and was acting in very good faith.
