Félix Martínez Roda and his nephew Eduardo are running the family winery set up by Félix’s father near Utiel. The winemakers are producing wines in the Vera de Estenas Pago, a terroir at the top of the wine classification in Spain.
The winery is focusing on high-quality Bobal wines. Casa Don Angel is the top of the range of Bobal wines aging 15 months in French oak barrels. Barrel-fermented Chardonnay is another great wine to taste at Vera de Estenas, along with other whites aged in clay.
Vera de Estenas is located between Utiel and Requena, only 45 min from the city of Valencia. It welcomes you with a 19th-century mansion in lush gardens.
One of the family members will take you around one of the top vineyards in Spain. From the top of the hill, a great view on the Requena wine country opens up.
Next, walk through historic underground vats and cellars, see how wines are made today and how they were made in the past. There is a small wine museum at the estate featuring machinery used in the winery in the past.
A tasting is organized in a beautiful park in front of the winery.
Visit are by appointment.
