Quinta do Ameal, situated in the Vinho Verde demarcated region on the banks of the River Lima, is a part of the Esporão wine project since 2019. Located just 30 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, Quinta do Ameal boasts an impressive 800-meter riverfront fertile granitic soils. The estate encompasses 14 hectares of vineyards and eight hectares of forest, boasting majestic walnut, chestnut, and stone pine trees, some of which are more than two centuries old.
The historic estate with a documented history dating back to 1710, Quinta do Ameal was practically abandoned until 1990 when Pedro Araujo completely restored it and completely replanted the vines.
The quinta renowned as the birthplace of the Loureiro grape variety, which Pedro Araujo revived to produce excellent wines.
Visits
Quinta do Almeal offers visits and tastings including tastings of old vintages.
They can also organize a kayak tour of the Lima and Vez River, river trekking and hiking in the Peneda Gerês National Park.
