Located in Soutelinho-Favaios near Alijó, in the highest part of the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Valley, Quinta da Pedra Alta is a historic estate with roots dating back to at least the late 18th century.
What sets this estate apart is its unique historical significance: three granite markers, known as Feitoria, stand on the property—relics of the original demarcation of the Port wine region between 1758 and 1761. Quinta da Pedra Alta is believed to be the only estate in the Douro with three of these markers on-site.
The 35-hectare vineyard spans a remarkable range of altitudes, from 230 to 550 meters, and is home to a diverse array of indigenous grape varieties. This range of elevation and soil types allows for the production of complex, balanced wines with a strong sense of place.
Historically known for producing high-quality grapes for Port wine, the estate began crafting DOC Douro table wines following a major renovation in the mid-1990s to early 2000s. A new chapter began in July 2018 when the property was acquired by new owners, who have since invested in the vineyard and winery to unlock the full potential of this exceptional site.
Today, Quinta da Pedra Alta is committed to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking.
