About
In 1927, eleven childhood friends came together to their village, Peñafiel, to find Protos, one of the best-known wineries in Ribera del Duero.
Today, more than 250 families are part of this community. 300 viticulturists, 8 agricultural engineers and a team of 8 oenologists led by Marilena Bonilla work on creating famous Protos wines.
The new Protos facility is located near the aging cellars and underneath the Peñafiel Castle. The modern building of the winery designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners & Alonso Balaguer is considered to be an architectural masterpiece of the 21 century.
