In the center of the town of Requena, about 30 minutes west of the city of Valencia, you will find a typical restored house transformed into a small winery with a modern tasting room, wine shop, and a very impressive underground museum.
There is a tiny production of 100% Bobal La Casa de Seda wine, which ages in a wooden French oak foudre, a concrete vat, and a clay amphora. The grapes for La Casa de Seda come from a hundred years old plot with a unique terroir perfect for growing Bobal. The production of La Casa de Seda started only recently in 2017, however, the wine has already been recognized by wine critics. In its production, the winegrowers use organic and biodynamic principles.
Besides this small production in Requena, Murviedro offers a variety of wines from the Valencia and Alicante regions – reds, whites, rose, Cava, sweet sparkling wine, and even non-alcoholic bubbles.
The winery is part of Bodegas Schenk, a Swiss-owned company.
