Château La Louvière
About
La Lobeyra (La Louvière) was known in 1310, when the Aquitaine region was under English domination. Guilhem de La Louvière was a local despot and tax collector. A vineyard gradually grew up around his house.
The estate was a property of the Carthusian Order in the 17th century. During the French Revolution it was bought by a powerful merchants, Jean-Baptiste Mareilhac who built this the neo-classical residence, now often referred to as the “White House” of Bordeaux.
