Chateau Batailley
About
1855 Grand Cru Classe – 5th Growth, Pauillac
The name of the estate comes from the word “bataille”, or battle, referring to the battles in 1453, at the end of the Hundred Years War.
The battles marked the end of the British troops in the Medoc when French troops retook possession of the nearby Chateau Latour.
The chateau produces wines on pure gravel soils, which results in classic Pauillac expressions – ruby-red color, excellent structure, and pronounced blackcurrant.
