The winery was started in 1982 by a group of local wine enthusiasts.
In 1992, the Lacalle and Laorden family took control of the winery and acquired other wineries in Spain.
Today, Artadi wines are made of 80 hectares of vineyards planted on diverse clay and limestone soils.
At Artadi, wines are made using organic, sustainable and environmentally-friendly viticulture without fertilizers and synthetic chemical substances.
Artadi is making exclusive single-vineyard wines, of which El Pison made from the vines planted in 1945 is the most impressive. The 2018 vintage was rated 99 points by Robert Parker, whereas 2014 vintage was given 97 Parker pointes and rated 99 points by James Suckling.
